The challenge goes on. There are other lands and rivers, other wilderness areas, to save and to share with all. I challenge you to step forward to protect and care for the wild places you love best.” – Dr. Neil Compton

Trail: Ozark Highlands/Sylamore Section. Off-Trail Adventure Hike to some beautiful Ozark hollows, creeks and newly-named (by me) “Cap Fork Falls”
Distance of hike: 4.2 miles
Difficulty of hike: Moderate-Difficult—Part of this hike is bushwhacking and involves steep hills, some slippery spots and walking in uneven dry-ish creek beds.
Hike Coordinator: Kris McMillen
Meeting time: 10:00 a.m. PLEASE BE PROMPT!
Meeting Place: The OHT Moccasin Springs Trailhead off Hwy 341/Push Mountain Rd. Not far from the intersection of 341 and Rand Rd./FR1118. See big TH sign out by highway.
Hope to see you on the trail.
Please bring lunch, water, snacks, hiking boots/shoes, proper clothing for the temps/conditions. Bring your own first aid supplies, bug spray, sunscreen or whatever you need for the day.
We are just some experienced hiking friends who are casually meeting at a trailhead to go hiking. Hike at your own risk; everyone is responsible for their own self/well-being. Hikes are limited to 16 people.
No children under age 15 on this hike.
There will be an Ozark Society Liability Waiver for everyone to sign.
All hikes are weather-permitting so please let us know if you are hiking with us BEFORE the day of the hike—THAT IS THE ONLY WAY WE CAN LET YOU KNOW IF THERE ARE CHANGES OR CANCELLATION—then I can email you in case of last minute or other changes: email to krismcmillen7@gmail.com
*We will have an after-hike tailgate get-together at the TH. Just bring a snack to share and, if you want, a beverage of your choice.
A little side note: If you are hiking on the Ozark Highlands Trail and encounter some problems that need attention by the volunteer trail maintainers you can email your concerns to ohtmaintenance@gmail.com. You can also look on OHTA’s website on ‘The Trail’ page and find a link to ‘Maintenance Coordinator,’ and simply state the problems you encountered. Just describe the problem (tread issues, downed trees, landslides!, wild hog damage, etc.) as best you can.
